My name is Tuan. I’m a 2nd year PhD student in Theoretical Physics Laboratory, under the supervision of Prof. S. Katayama, in School of Materials Science. I do believe that leaving Hanoi, our lovely & beautiful capital, for study in JAIST is one of the most important decisions in my life.
JAIST has five characteristics: world level research, excellent faculties, motivated students, advanced laboratory facilities, and innovative administration, which are great advantages for my research as well as my student life. In my research, I use JAIST’s powerful super computer systems to perform calculations & simulations of the physical and chemical properties of materials, although I was an experimentalist before.
Besides, the research grants are also another great advantage for PhD students in JAIST. I am lucky to be supported by 1.2 million yen from “The Doctoral Students’ Independent Research Promotion Program” for my research about Single Molecule Magnets. For these reasons, JAIST is a good place for all students who have a strong motivation to advance their knowledge & ability regardless of their undergraduate background, and who want a challenge in a new field. |
