"JAIST Library News" is published on an irregular basis and provide you with information about Library services and materials.
[Reading Rooms] Repair work of ceiling vents
From 13:00 to 17:00 on July 18 (Thu.), the ceiling vents in the reading rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors will be repaired.
During the work, a part of the reading rooms will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but thank you so much for your understanding.
Repair work on joints of buildings (3F)
The joints between the new and old buildings on the 3rd floor will be repaired as follows.
Areas other than the area being worked on are available for use, but loud noise and dust will be generated due to the work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but thank you so much for your understanding.

[IMPORTANT] Bringing drinks to the library
Eating and drinking are prohibited in the library, but only drinks in sealable bottles with lids are allowed to be brought in for hydration.
Please observe the following rules and manners to maintain the library environment.

Binding Academic Journals
We are planning to bind academic journals as following schedule. Therefore you can not use those journals for some period. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

*The binding of materials is scheduled to be completed at the end of August and we will relocate them in the shelves in order soon after the registration has been completed.

Installation of window screens in the Audio Visual Room
From 9:00 to 12:00 on June 24 (Mon.), we will be installing screens on the windows of the Audio Visual Room on the 2nd floor of the old wing. Please note that the room will not be available during the work. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
[Noise Caution] Bookshelf Repair Work (Old Wing/3F)
The library is available except for the bookshelves that are being worked on. However, there is a possibility of quite loud noise.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but thank you so much for your understanding.

IEEE Authorship Webinar
For those who are thinking of submitting a paper to IEEE journals or proceedings, IEEE lecturer will hold the webinar as follows.
This is a great opportunity for you to participate, especially if you are writing a paper on information science.
The webinar will be held in English (consecutive interpretation will be provided in Japanese).

Restoration work completed for Journals Areas
Journals Areas on the 1st through 3rd floors of the New Wing, which was closed due to restoration work, is now available.
*Some shelves have not been reorganized yet, so please contact library staff if you don’t find the materials you need.
Reopening of the Library and Resumption of Services
Please be informed that the library will reopen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, with the following exceptions, after the temporary closure since January 3 due to the damage caused by the earthquake.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the Noto Earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024.
The library will be temporarily closed from January 3 to January 5until for the time being due to the falling of materials caused by the earthquake. You can not enter the library or use materials. We can not accept applications for one-day use and the library user’s card.
