1. Why I chose JAIST
JAIST is a leading research institute in Japan and has cutting edge research labs. I was inspired by the research profiles of faculty in the School of Knowledge Science and found aligning interests with some of the faculties who were working on skill learning. I was interested in learning the motion capture technology which was available at JAIST, for my future research.
2. My research activities and life in JAIST
My research involved understanding the "Lifting Motion". I carried out a literature review on various lifting techniques and the current research being done in the field of biomechanics with regards to lifting. The main purpose of the study was to determine the role of expectation in lifting weights with the use of balance board and motion capture technology.
The campus is situated on a hillock surrounded by lush green forest and fields, which provide a serene environment for work and peaceful stay. The accommodation was very comfortable. There are a lot of sports club in the institute and I was able to devote some time to play tennis as well. I had the opportunity to interact with a very diverse student population from across the world at JAIST. Staying at JAIST was an enriching and enjoyable experience for me.
3. My future dream
I intend to pursue my doctoral degree in the field of Motor Learning and Neuroscience and enter academia as a professor. I want to understand the underlying neural correlates of human motion.
