"JAIST Library News" is published on an irregular basis and provide you with information about Library services and materials.
Suspension of requests for photocopying/borrowing materials to other institutions (Jan.20-31, 2023)
Due to the system outage at the National Institute of Informatics, photocopy/borrowing requests to other institute libraries will not be available during the following period. Please make a request as soon as possible if you need to obtain materials from them.
Period of suspension:
from 12:00 p.m. on January 20, 2023 (Fri.) to 9:00 a.m. on January 31, 2023 (Tue.)
FYI, requests to borrow books from public libraries in Ishikawa Prefecture stays available during the above period as well.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding and cooperation.
Restriction on Use of the Library for Inventory
The inventory will be conducted as below. During the inventory, we will restrict access to the shelves partly for a fixed time.

NOTE:
- Date and Time: December 5th, 2022 (Mon.) 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
* The inventory work area will become off-limits.
* The other areas of the library are available,
but please note that some noises can be expected.
* If you would like to use a material in the off-limits areas,
please ask the library staff.
* The library materials left on desks or tables will be returned
to the shelves for smooth operation.

This service allows you to browse and photocopy the digitized versions of out-of-print or otherwise difficult-to-obtain materials
from the National Diet Library, Japan (NDL) at JAIST library.

Binding Academic Journals (September 8 - December 16)
We are planning to bind academic journals as following schedule. Therefore you can not use those journals for some period.We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

The binding of all materials is scheduled to be completed at the end of November and we will relocate them in the shelves in order soon after the registration has been completed.
Service of borrowing books from Ishikawa Prefectural Library will return!
The Ishikawa Prefectural Library, which had been closed since last November, will reopen on Saturday, July 16 after completing the relocation to the new library. We are pleased to inform you that we will resume the service of borrowing books from the library for you on Tuesday, July 19 accordingly.
Change in download method of Maruzen eBook Library
The download method of Maruzen eBook Library will be changed on June 29.
When printing or downloading the contents, you need to enter your JAIST e-mail address and the verification code sent to the e-mail address.
The validity period of the verification code is 10 minutes.

Discontinuation of subscription to some general magazines
Please be informed that we discontinued our subscription to some general magazines shelved in the Browsing Area on the 1st floor of the library as of the end of March, 2022.

"Level up! Online Life" section is open.
This is a section of books that support the new online lifestyle coexisting with COVID-19.
We have collected books on how to use video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, on communication techniques that can be useful for online classes, interviews,
and presentations, and on mental health.
The books are located in the Group Study Space on the 3rd floor of the New Wing. Please feel free to have a look.

All the area under the repair work will be unavailable as the following schedule.

If you want to browse or borrow materials in the closed area, please ask a staff member in the library. - Please note that the area not under the repair work is available but you might be bothered by the noise and the vibration due to the work.
