Graduate Students Strengthening the Power of Communication: Dialogue and Social Engagement through DGGL

"I want to explain my research more clearly."
"I'd love to get feedback from people with different perspectives."

With thoughts like these in mind, graduate students are actively engaging in DGGL (Diversity Gathering for Future Global Leaders).
Hosted by the Research Center for Knowledge Innovation, DGGL is a dialogue-based program where students revisit their research from a social perspective, aiming to strengthen their ability to communicate and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Held weekly in English during lunch time, the sessions bring together small groups of participants who practice explaining their research in simple language. Afterward, they share their insights and strategies with the whole group to think together about how to communicate more effectively.
Each session is filled with new discoveries and opportunities to broaden perspectives.

Participants have shared many takeaways, such as:
"It was a safe space where I could speak freely about my ideas."
"I realized the gap between what I understand and how others perceive it--- this helped me improve my explanation."
"It helped me clarify the direction of the research I truly want to pursue."

For students who are nervous about presenting in English, the environment is friendly and supportive--- making it a great opportunity to take the first step.

DGGL also reflects the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), which is increasingly recognized as important on a global scale. It encourages students to consider how research can be pursued in dialogue with society, with attention to its meaning and social impact.

Information about DGGL--- including activity highlights, weekly reports, and details on dates and locations--- will be updated on the Center's website:

By learning to talk about their research, students begin to find new connections between their research and the world.
DGGL is a place where those connections--- and new insights--- begin. We invite you to follow and support this growing initiative.
