UUM-JAIST Professional Certification Program & Research Collaborations
The International Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Entertainment Science, JAIST had held the "UUM-JAIST Professional Certification Program and Research Collaborations" on the 24th and 25th of November 2022. Four delegates from Malaysia, where three of them from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and one from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), who are faculty members from each university, visited JAIST. The training program themed on "Sustainable Preservation and Conservation of Cultural Heritage," focusing on the perspective of society and sociology, culture and art, and application of related technology.
Since the 23rd of November 2022 is the national holiday, the visiting delegates have been hosted with a cultural visits to the wonderful city of Kanazawa and enjoyed interesting Japanese bento and visited several attractive spots in Kanazawa (such as Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and Utatsuyama Garden Park).
The first day of the training kick-offs with a brief talk by the JAIST president, Prof. Terano, and the vice president and executive dean of graduate school of advanced science and technology, JAIST, Prof. Kohda, which highlighted the importance of collaboration and continual efforts in research exchanges between Japanese and Malaysian institutions. Prof. Kohda also covered an interesting topics that promote innovation and design thinking in postgraduate students of JAIST. Various discussion on the topics such as culture, entertainment, interface, and creativity, have been conducted during the two days training program.
The program closes with potential future research collaborations between JAIST and UUM, as well as several partnering institutions in Indonesia (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia), focusing on strengthening the relationships between those institutions and enhancing research exchanges, encouraging potential prospective students, and promote researchers/faculties to visits and collaborate with JAIST faculties in the future.
