Researcher Dr. KIEU, Que Anh (Nagai Lab of Human Life Design Area) and Mr. ZHAO, Jing (1st-year doctoral student in Nagai Lab of Human Life Design Area) received the JSSD Encouragement Prize in the 3rd Branch.

JSSD Encouragement Prize in the 3rd Branch is the award which the JSSD (Japanese Society for the Science of Design) recognizes students excellent design research and creative work.

■Title
Extracting user requirements from online reviews with neural sequence labeling models

■Abstract
In this work, we study how to extract user requirements for product design by utilizing online review documents and exploiting text mining methods. For doing this, we formulate user requirements extraction tasks as recognizing sequence labeling problems. We then investigate neural sequence labeling learning as the primary methods for extracting user requirements. The extraction results are promising and suggest us for studying more about using text mining techniques for creative design in the future.

Effects of personal working environment design on occupant's mind concentration

■Abstract
Recently, there is a common phenomenon that students are easier to get homework distraction is more and more concerned in society. A pre-investigation about the homework distraction and homework environment have done at first. Its result proved the conclusion of homework distraction phenomenon among the students. Also, it showed there are the connections between the homework distraction and personal working environment. From the point of view of the environment, the environment influences occupants on lots of side by its unique ways. Like some different environments could lead to different productivity or creativity results for the occupant. To avoid the homework distraction phenomenon, we have done a study to identify the characteristics in the personal working environment and find which is good for occupant's mind concentration, which is bad for occupant's mind concentration. In the research process, we used Q-methodology to find the photographic personal working environments with the highest perceived mind concentration potential and lowest perceived mind concentration potential. Then, evaluators analyzed the environmental characteristics of the personal working environments with the highest perceived mind concentration potential and lowest perceived mind concentration potential by the scale of Daylighting, Internal organization of objects/facilities, Biophilia and view, Look and feel. From the correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis results, three characteristics in the personal working environment were found that predict high perceived mind concentration. They are (1) Good view (urban view or natural view), (2) Gig table, (3) Use more neutral color.
