10月末から11月にかけて、飯田理事と共にインドネシアとタイを訪問してきました。両国とも、主な目的は現地OB会の設立関係と優秀な学生の獲得に関する新たなルートの開拓でした。
　インドネシアでは遠隔教育研究イノベーションセンターの長谷川教授と合流し、バンドンにあるUNIKOM（University of Computer, Indonesia）を訪問しました。Soegoto学長以下の主だった経営陣とお会いしましたが、出迎えのセレモニー等からも今後のJAISTとの連携についての高い意識が窺われました。日本からもオンラインでグローバルコミュニケーションセンターの元山講師にご参加いただきました。Soegoto学長は幾つもの事業を手掛けるビジネスマンでもあり、その経験を生かしてアントレプレナーシップ関連の授業を自ら担当されておられます。また、学部修了生や博士学位取得を目指す若手教員の本学への進学についても積極的に取り組みたいとの意向を持っておられました。今回は、インドネシア内の他の大学で勤務しているJAIST卒業生にもご参加いただいて、現地OB会の設立とその後の運営についての方針を話し合いました。
　タイでは知識の池田教授と情報のラチャラク講師、マテリアルのチャミンクワン講師にもご参加いただき、SIIT-JAIST Conference and JAIST Alumni Meeting を開催しました。本学修了生を中心にSIITやNSTDAのトップなど参加者50名を超える盛大な会となりました。今後、タイ出身の本学修了生の皆さんが積極的に参加され、海外OB会のモデルとして発展することを期待しています。
　また今回のタイではマヒドン大学を訪問し、Mahaisavariya学長らと今後の連携の発展について意見を交わしました。マヒドン大学から今年来学した情報科学分野のインターンシップ4名のうち2名が本学への進学を希望していることもあり、マテリアルサイエンス分野を含む連携の発展とそれを通じた学生の獲得に繋げていきたいと考えています。

From the end of October to November, I visited Indonesia and Thailand with Prof. Iida (Trustee & Vice-president). In both countries, the main objectives were to establish local alumni associations and develop new routes to attract talented students.
In Indonesia, we met up with Professor Hasegawa of JAIST and visited UNIKOM (University of Computer, Indonesia) in Bandung. I met the Rector E.S. Soegoto and his associates of managing board. The welcome ceremony showed a high level of awareness about future collaboration with JAIST. Lecturer Motoyama of Global Communication Center also participated online from Japan. The Rector is widely involved in business, but also enjoys teaching classes related to entrepreneurship. He also wants to actively encourage students and faculty without PhD degrees to involve their master/PhD in JAIST. We also had JAIST alumni working at other universities participate and discussed future vision regarding to the establishment and subsequent management of local alumni associations.
In Thailand, we joined the SIIT-JAIST Conference and JAIST Alumni Meeting together with Professor Ikeda, Lecturer Racharak and Lecturer Chammingkwan, all from JAIST. It was a successful event with over 50 participants, mainly alumni of JAIST, but also top executives from SIIT and NSTDA. In the future, we hope that all alumni living in Thailand will actively participate the Alumni activities, which will be a good model for overseas alumni associations.
Moreover, we also visited Mahidol University and exchanged opinions with President B. Mahaisavariya and his associates on the development of our future collaborations. Two of the four interns from Mahidol University in the field of information science who came to JAIST this year have expressed interest to enroll the master program in JAIST. We hope this will lead to the development of cooperation including the field of material science, and the excellent student recruitment.
