Kanazawa Doctor Highest Income Tax Payer
最高納税者は金沢の医師
On May 16th, the National Tax Administration released its annual list
of people who paid more than 10 million yen in income tax last year.
The highest taxed person in Ishikawa was a Kanazawa doctor who paid
182 million yen, while in the entertainment category, a 26-year old
girl's manga (Japanese comic strip) artist from Nanao paid 29 million
yen. In all, 664 Ishikawa residents paid over 10 million yen, which
include 293 company executives and 138 doctors. The highest income
tax payer in the country was a 26 year-old taxi company president from
Fukui Prefecture, who through sales of company stocks, paid 4,887
million yen in total.
5月16日、国税庁は昨年の所得税額が1千万円以上超えた納税者のリストを公示した。石川県の最高納税者は金沢の医師で1億8千2百万円、芸能関係では七尾市の26歳の少女漫画家が2千9百万円納めた。石川県の1千万円以上の納税者は664名、そのうち会社役員が293名、医師が138名であった。国内の最高納税者は26歳の福井県のタクシー会社社長で、会社株の売却なので合計48億8千7百万円納めている。
Will a Name Change for a Twentysomething Group Attract New Members?
青年団の名称変更で会員アップ？
On May 10th, the Twentysomething Group (Seinen dan) of Tatsunokuchi
Town announced that in an attempt to change its image and to attract
new members, it has renamed itself "T-youth". This name change is a
result of a survey conducted on young adults of the town, who thought
the old name was "out of fashion" and "lacking interest". Seinen dan
has been in existence in all municipalities for generations as a
social and volunteer organization for young adults in the community,
however, interests have been waning recently because of a decline in
the youth population and an increase in other activities. All
Nomi-gun towns (Kawakita, Neagari, Tatsunokuchi and Terai) used to
have Seinen dan, but only Tatsunokuchi has one today.
5月10日、辰口青年団協議会はイメージアップと会員獲得に向け、名称を "T-youth" と変更した。町の青年に対してアンケート調査を実施したところ、元の名称は「ダサイ」や「魅力ない」などの意見が多かったことによる。青年団は全国の市町村で何世代にも渡り受け継がれた、社交・ボランティアグループであるが、最近青年人口が減少していることや他の活動が増加したことなどの理由から団員が減少している。以前は能美郡の全町に青年団があったが、現在は辰口にしかない。
Subway Gas Attacks Hampered School Field Trips
地下鉄ガス事件修学旅行にも影響
The recent sarin and poison gas attacks at subway stations in Tokyo
and Yokohama have hampered field trips for some junior schools in
Ishikawa. The organizers of the Uchinada Junior High School's field
trip in mid-May to the Tokyo-Yokohama area decided not to use subways
to move students as they have done in previous years and solely use JR
trains, and all free time excursions by the students will be
chaperoned by teachers. The school's principal quoted "while it's
impossible to cancel or change plans at this stage, we would still
like to ensure the safety of our students". The prefectural board of
education reported that Tsubata Junior High School and Unoke Junior
High School are planning to take similar measures.
地下鉄サリン毒ガス事件の影響で、県内のいくつかの中学校の修学旅行が変更を余儀なくされている。内灘中学校の場合、5月中旬の東京・横浜方面の修学旅行で生徒移動に例年利用している地下鉄の代わりにJRで移動し、生徒の自由行動には教師がつくことになった。学校長は「今から計画を中止、変更することは無理だけど、生徒たちの安全も保証したい」と述べた。県教育委員会
では津幡中学校、宇ノ気中学校も同じような対策をとる予定だと発表した。
New Art Museum Opened in Nanao
七尾で新しい美術館開館
Approximately 360 people attended the opening ceremony for the new
perfectural art museum in Nanao City on April 28th. The museum, which
is located in the Kojima-machi section of the city, contains exhibits
from both the local area and throughout the country. The first
exhibition featured pieces done by artists in the Noto area from the
medieval age to present.
七尾市で4月28日、新しい県立美術館の開館式が行われ、360人が出席した。この美術館は市の小島町にあり、地元と全国からの作品が展示されている。開館展は中世から現在の能登の美術家の作品を展示している。
Ishikawa Bridge (Re)opens
石川橋再び
On April 26th, Ishikawa Bridge, which links Kenrokuen Park and
Kanazawa Castle ruins, reopened to the public after two and a half
years of construction. It was reconstructed for renovation and to
accommodate street widening below the bridge. The new stone bridge is
now 36.5m long and 10.5m wide.
4月26日、兼六園と金沢城跡を結ぶ石川橋が2年半の工事期間を経て、再び一般の人が通れるようになった。橋は修復と橋下の道路拡幅工事のため作り直しされた。新しい石橋の長さは36.5m、幅は10.5mである。
New Dinosaur Species Discovered
新種の恐竜発見
The Shiramine Village Board of Education announced on April 25th that
a fossilized tooth from a previously unidentified dinosaur was
discovered last August near the Tedori River Dam Lake. The fossil,
estimated 130 million years old, is believed to be of a 10m long
herbivore species with lizard-like toes. The new species has been
named oarashiryu (Big Storm Dragon).
白峰村教育委員会は4月25日、昨年8月手取川ダム湖の近くでこれまで見つかったことがない恐竜の歯の化石を発見したと発表した。化石はおよそ1
億3千万年前のもので、トカゲのような指を持つ長さ10mの草食恐竜の一種と推定され、新種の恐竜はオオアラシリュウと名付けられた。
