Due to the major rain storms which swept through the Hokuriku area during mid July, four Ishikawa residents are either dead or missing when their boats capsized at sea. On July 13th, two squid fishing boats capsized due to high waves off Komatsu which four men swam to safely but claimed a life of a Matto man, and a Komatsu man is still missing. In addition, a Uchinada man was found dead on July 15th near Kanazawa after his squid fishing boat capsized the night before, and a Kanazawa man was found dead in a Hakui shoreline on July 17th after his pleasure boat capsized a few days before.
7月中の北陸地方の大雨で、県内では4名がボートの転覆によって死亡または行方不明になった。7月13日、小松近くで2隻のイカ釣船が高波で転覆し、4名が自力で助かったが、松任の男性が死亡、小松の男性は行方不明になった。このほか15日には内灘の男性が乗っていたイカ釣船が転覆し、金沢の近くで死体で発見された。17日には金沢の男性が羽咋沖で死体で発見された。この男性が乗っていたレジャーボートが数日前に転覆したらしい。
Eikichi Shirosaka of Suzu, who was born on the 7th year of Taisho (1918), turned 77 years old on July 7th of the 7th year of Heisei (1995). In addition, the motorcycle which he purchased eight years ago has a license plate number "777". Mr. Shriosaka quoted "I'm sure getting this many number 7 is all coincidental but I would imagine it doesn't happen too often." Mr. Shirosaka celebrated the day with his family, which includes a great-grandchild.
今年、平成7年7月7日に大正7年生まれの珠洲市の白坂栄吉さんが77歳の誕生日を迎えた。さらに8年前に買ったバイクのプレートナンバーも「777」。白坂さんは「これだけ「7」がそろうのは偶然にしても珍しいかもしれない。」と語った。誕生日はひ孫を含めた家族と祝った。
Ishikawa Board of Education announced on July 3rd that for privacy reasons, the names of sucessful applicants to prefectural senior high schools will no longer be announced starting next spring, and only the sucessful applicant's code number will be published. While the announcement of names of successful applicants traditionally had the meaning of being accepted into the society for the first time, the increase in competition amongst applicants and the trend towards protecting the privacy of unsucessful applicants played a major role in changing the old policy. Ishikawa will be the 21st prefecture to adopt this measure, while 19 others still publish the names of sucessful applicants.
7月3日、石川県教育委員会はプライバシーの保護を重視する立場から、来年春から県立高等学校の受験合格者の名前を公表せず、受験番号だけを発表するにすることを決めた。伝統的に受験者の名前が発表されることは生徒が世に認められるという意味もあったが、受験倍率の上昇と不合格者のプライバシーを守る考えが主流を占め、方針が変わった。石川県は全国の都道府県で21番目にこの方針を決定したが、他の19の県では合格者の名前を発表するとしている。
Location shooting for the popular TV series "The Naked Boss-man" started in Wajima on July 18th. The series, based on the life of the idiot-savant artist Kiyoshi Shimizu, has so far had 76 episodes produced in the last 15 years. This is the first time that the series will be shot in Ishikawa, and the part of the reason Wajima was selected as its setting is that the city government allocated 7 million yen for the episode to promote the local tourist attractions on national TV.
7月18日から、輪島で人気テレビ番組「裸の大将」の収録が開始された。「裸の大将」は知的障害者でありながら天才画家でもあった山下清をモデルにした番組で、過去15年間に76本が制作されている。石川県のロケは今回が初めてで、輪島市が選ばれた理由の一つとして、同市役所が地元の観光地を全国テレビで知ってもらいたいと番組に七百万円の補助を申し出たことによる。
The number of people applying for employment with Kanazawa City government for the next fiscal year (starting April 1996) reached record a high. On June 25th, 564 applicants wrote the first exam for 29 posititions designated for university graduates, representing a competition ratio of 19.6 applicants per position, up from 12.6 applicants per position last year. Similar trends are seen for other municipal and prefectural government positions. The tougher competition is attributed to the popularity of public servant jobs during the uncertain economic climate.
過去最多の受験者が来年度（1666年4月から）の金沢市職員採用試験に挑んだ。大学卒職員の採用予定数は29人で、6月25日に行われた一次試験には567人が受験した。今年の倍率は19.6倍で、昨年の12.6倍を大きく上回った。この激しい競争倍率は他の市町村や県でも同じ傾向にある。その理由として、依然不景気が続く不安定な経済状態により、公務員職に根強い人気が集まったと考えられる。
On June 24th, a Kanazawa man filed a suit with the Kanazawa Regional Court against a Kyoto woman for approximately 1.1 million yen in compensation for an accident which happened at Chugu Onsen Ski Hill this January. According to papers filed by the plaintiff, the woman lost control of her snowboard and collided with the plaintiff who was waiting in a liftline. The plaintiff suffered an injury to his left hand and a severe cut to his face from the women's snowboard. The defendant, who has already paid the plaintiff's medical expenses, is planning to fight the suit.
6月24日、金沢市内の男性が京都市内の女性を相手に、今年1月に中宮温泉スキー場で起きた事故による被害の慰謝料を含む、約百十万円の損害賠償を請求する訴訟を、金沢地方裁判所に起こした。原告の訴えによると女性が乗っていたスノーボードが操作不能となり、リフトを待っていた原告者に衝突した。原告は左手関節を痛め、顔にも重傷を負った。被告は、すでに原告の医療費を支払ったとして、この訴訟に対し争う姿勢を示している。
