Q. I know this is a university library, but I think there should be more novels.
And, yes, there are a lot of books in the library, but you shloud sort them in order (for example in alphabetic ordering of the authors' last names).
Please consider these matters.(2010.11.15)

A.

Thank you for your opinion.
Unfortunately, the budget for the library is limited for academic or specialized books, not for the novels. (Those novels on the first floor are accepted as donation books or library exhibition books.)
As for the order of the books on the shelves, we use JAIST Book Classification System. The books are classified according to the field each of which is given a particular call number, and in the same field, they are shelved in alphabetical order of the authors' last names. Please see the call number on the spine of the book.
We ask for your kind understanding.

Q. I hope that the new books are displayed in a prominent place for about 1 week. (Jan.18, 2005)

A.

We discussed your suggestion, but we concluded that it was impossible because of the difficulty of devoting a space to that and our operational system (open 24 hours). Instead, we plan to show the list of new library materials in the OPAC.

"New Books and Journals in the library" in the OPAC is available and user can see the monthly lists of new library materials. The materials are listed in the chronologic order, most recent first.
