Abstract:
It is well known that the properties of nanoparticles strongly depend on their size and shape, therefore, shape-controlled synthesis of nanostructure is an important goal to reach their better unique properties. In this work, we presented cubic-like structure of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) in an average size about 320 nm, which were fabricated by the reduction of selenite in the presence of folic acid-gallic acid-N-trimethyl chitosan (FA-GA-TMC) used as template or stabilizer. The chemical structrue of FA-GA-TMC consisted of three structural features: (i) positive charge from -N+(CH3)3 of quaternized chitosan, (ii) hydrophobic parts from both of gallic acid and folic acid, and (iii) hydrogen bonding groups from gallic acid, folic acid and chitosan backbone. According to the results, morphologies of SeNPs were controlled by the intermolecular interactions such as electrostatic interaction, π-π stacking and hydrogen bonding between neighbor particles, leading to form final structure like cubic shape with energetically stable. This work demonstrated a simple and effective way to control cubic-like structure of selenium nanoparticles.
