Abstract:
The University of Computer Studies, Yangon was firstly known as Universities' Computer Center (UCC) in 1971 which provided computer training to universities and government employees but it changed into the Institute of Computer Science and Technology (ICST) in 1988. On 1st July 1998, it becomes the University of Computer Studies, Yangon(UCSY).

The University of Computer Studies (Bahan Campus) was separately established on 3rd December 2012, as the Center of Excellence. The University has been officially renamed as the University of Information Technology (UIT) since 1st April 2015.

The students are required to get a high mark in their matriculation exam to apply to the UIT. The University of Information Technology produces about 200 Undergraduate students every year. It also offers Undergraduate and Post-graduate courses for Bachelor, Diploma, Master’ s and Doctorate level students in a wide range of subject areas. The Faculties of UIT are organized according to the degrees offered.

The standard academic calendar of UIT consists of two semesters. The first semester of the academic year normally starts from December and ends in April. The second semester starts from May and finishes in September. The University also holds sport competition annually to help the students to better manage their time between studies and sports. UIT has also established academic collaborations with the international universities and organizations.
