The Overall Picture
I have summarized my view of mind, body, action, causality,
depth, complexity, mechanism, and dynamics several times during the development
of the topic.
Let me now illuminate what I believe to be a promising
general picture of the mind from a different viewpont.
Here I will amplify the notion of Baconian science
by pleading materialism over any symbolism. A piece of matter
is superior to any description or model. This is old intuition but it starts
to get a well-understood scientific shape in the light of these several
developments.
Reformulating things from the present viewpoint now, we get this:
mind is matter, and the study of the mind equals the study of how the
relevant complexity of matter can be reflected in some new types of models,
at least at the level (or in the form) of some metaphors.
